About USUPA

The USU Pagan Alliance(USUPA) club is available for all USU students who participate in or are interested in Pagan, Earth based spirituality or cultural revivalist traditions.

We learn and study together, celebrate the seasons and provide community services. We also provide a positive environment for those students to express their religious beliefs and have discussions with their peers and community. We interact and aid other student organizations and show our school spirit whenever we can!

In our meetings we discuss a wide range of Pagan topics of concern from environmental issues, divination, religious paths, occult philosophy, and other topics of interest. We organize movie nights, rituals to celebrate Pagan festivals, trips to visit Pagan shops or attend events.

We are an open-minded, relaxed group of people that love to share. There is always a place for new-comers and whether you are a  seasoned practitioner or just curious we can’t help but welcome you.

~

We are seekers, we are wood-walkers. We find ourselves staring at the moon and in wonderment find joy in our hearts. We know the spirits of the tress and the spirits of those that have gone before. We are wild-born, sometimes not knowing but always finding our feet set on the paths of our true-selves. We are healers, we are sages, Sisters and brothers, fathers and mother, Goddess and Gods in flesh. We are constant watchers and stewards. We hold the flame of the old-ones. We honor their memory of the Gods before time. We know their call, we hear their song and answer with our own tones in kind. -Kassie, 2010

Hello Kitsune, ive been studying and practicing Wicca for 5 years solo. ive shied away from “covens” and what nots for the simple fact that they can be very miss leading then a friend said to ch this site out. Im wondering do you have to pay the 10 dollars membership, and still have to pay for all events, rituals, and sabats and Essabats?

      T.Edwards,
Thanks for stopping by. We try to be very upfront with our costs and what to expect since we are not a coven. If you pay the $10 membership fee than all other events are free but sometimes there are still costs we ask members to share ( like cooking food for potlucks)
Samhain is a unique event that serves as our main fundraiser for the year. The ideal would be to not ask more from our members and realistically the officers ( who are poor college students themselves) still shoulder about 80% of the financial burden.
USU has an in-depth process for gaining funds from their accounts to support us and we do our best to ask them first and only after do we ask our members.

If you choose not to pay membership fees then you are subject to entry fees for events like Samhain and closed from other Sabbats and rituals. We do this to keep our membership safe and again to spread the burden of cost around. ( since we haven’t found a good Money spell yet!)

$10 is the bare minimum to provide supplies for weekly events, classes, crafts or trips. We try to spread the burden of cost around to everyone and be fair.
I hope that explanation makes sense and to see you soon.
      Bless,
      Kitsune

Hi I have been a solo Pagan for about 15 years. Before that I went through different stages of religion. I do not follow one specific Pagan path. Instead I go where my heart and the Gods and Goddess’ lead me.

I have only recently learned about this group and it sounds like a wonderful way to meet like-minded people. However, I do have some questions. First is this group open to everyone or is it only for USU students? Second if only for students do you know of any other Pagan organizations in the valley? Last, for now, are children welcome at the rituals?

    • Kassie says:

      Malena,
That’s wonderful that you have had the dedication to be a solitary practitioner for so long.
We are open to community members at this time to a certain point. We have to maintain a ratio with the school and there needs to bemore students than community members. You would not maintain any voting rights or be able to serve as an officer but we welcome you to open events ( classes/witch’s tea/Samhain)
There is also a mother group in the works, an organization called CUUPS through the Unitarian Universalist Church here in Logan, but we just started getting the paperwork for it. This would be so we can more freely serve our community member’s needs and provide a solid base with UU values that match up with our own.
We make a point to have all our rituals children/family friendly but we do ask that they only participate if they are able to understand direction and what is being done ( about 10 years old) and during open rituals, which is Samhain right now. There are restrictions as a University group we must abide.
I hope that this cleared up your questions! Please feel free to join us.
      -Kassie

    Hi Kassie,

Thank you for answering. I had hoped to attend the Samhain ritual however distance and my husband having our only vehicle in Idaho for work will prevent us from being there. I look forward to becoming involved as I am able to.
