Meditation Class

On September 30th from 8 to 9 pm at Kassie’s house (check the map on google calender)Kassie will teach a class on basic meditation, she will lead everyone in meditation techniques and speak on the importance of meditation and it’s use in paganism.

Kassie will be making Chicken soup ( it’s incredible so don’t worry). Participants should bring something to sit on the floor.

Meditation poem

Hands of hope
the hope of light
the light of the soul in song.
Song of breath
breath of wonder
wonder in the silence.

Silent no longer!
There is a long reach of the heart
which is a heart of joy and fullness.
A Fullness of spirit
in the spirit of truth
truth of step
the first steps of honesty.

Honesty make me fine
fine in the eyes of Lugh
Lugh Samhildánach take me to the wall, wall of skills
skills of myself I seek.

Samhain potluck Sign up and recipes

Please sign up to cook one dish as listed in above  and use the recipe. As time gets closer and we get a better idea of how many people we will be serving that night we will adjust. Thanks all!

  • ‎The files on the sign up sheet with an Astrix (*) next to” options” icon in the right hand side of the table have a recipe on file, please use it .If you sign up for an item you MUST bring it. We are the caterers for this event. The USUPA will worry about presentation, just make sure the item you signed up for gets there cooked. Items like the spiced ciders can be put in crock pots and turned on there.
  • Also remember some of these recipes can be made in advance and frozen. Just be sure you bring something to heat it in (crock pots suggested) . I recommend no longer than a couple of days if necessary though.
  •  Guacamole can NOT be made in advance…just FYI
  • All of the Ritual players are expected to be at the event 2 hours early to set up ( 5:30pm) and make sure we have all we need. All other members contributing to the potluck, please be there an hour early(6:30).

I need a volunteer to be in charge of

  • Kitchen witch-someone to set up and retrieve pot luck items. Transfer them into any dishes, if necessary and make sure everything looks good.
  • Ancestral Item Guardian- someone to receive ancestral items as people check in and placing them on the altar, arranging them, putting them on stands or frames if needed.

_______________________

Members do not have to pay if you have already paid your yearly dues.

  • Please bring a silver style framed photo of at least one passed loved one and/or an ancestral item.
  • We will have a covered altar this time and if the weather is bad now have the materials to have the ritual INSIDE if needed.
  • No costumes this year. Instead come draped in your best or favorite White, Red or Black ( or combination) clothing. Get your Halloween bug out Friday or Saturday(I hear tell there will plenty of parties, hosted by USU or USUPA members) this is Samhain Night, the sacred Day of the Dead, So please show proper respect and dress accordingly.

We will try to reimburse you for food costs if we make enough but by splitting up the food items hopefully the financial burden won’t be too taxing.

Also remember we CAN NOT cook in the kitchen at the UU church, we can heat things up but cooking is not allowed due to food safety standards.  Anyone without a kitchen is welcome to use mine.

Your paypal receipt IS your ticket. Please print it out and bring it to the event. Please read the post below for instructions and more details. Thank you!

Witch’s Tea 9/24

On the 24th of September from 11:00 – 12:30pm, The USUPA will host Witch’s Tea at Citrus and Sage Coffee shop.
Social time! good coffee (and Creps!) and good conversation with your favorite pagans. Look for Anya and Isaac this time. We will try to have a little sign announcing us for those that are new.

Brighid’s prayer

This is a prayer Kassie constructed for her daily practice. (You will be seeing more posts like this from all of your officers as a way to share our journey with you. So stay tuned)

To Brigid of the flame,

To Brigid of the passion,

To Brigid of the healing heart,

I petition with my soul.

I ask that you hold my heart that I do honor to you by my life.

I petition the faery queen, the sacred ruler of the other, to open my eyes this day , to walk with purpose on my path.

I honor your blessings with a good life, with each sunrise I deepen my relationship with you.

Forger of passion, creator of inspiration, light my soul this day, for it burns for you, it burns for me.

Paganism and Modern Witchcraft

Below is the link to the Paganism and Wicca talk that Kassie gave for Professor Glass-Coffin’s Anthropology of Religion class September 13, 2011.

Here is the link to the notes. I apologize that we did not get to speak on the holidays or more about the modern practice of it. Thank you all for listening today and I also apologize for my silliness near the end, I saw we weren’t going to get through the material and was trying to hurry.

Please know that despite my hurried and comedic explanation of Wicca it is a deeply spiritual practice that uses the guide of ancient practices, nature and a personal dedicated spirit to navigate a sacred course.

I hope to see you all at the full moon ritual.

Pantheism Basics

Thank you to all who joined us last night for our Earth-Based Spirituality class! We appreciate and welcome all who would like to continue attending our classes and events.

As requested during class last night, here is the link to the Prezi [online presentation] of Pantheism. It should contain all the notes needed if you’d like to go through and review anything I spoke on last night.

Pantheism Basics Presentation

I identify myself as Pantheist with a strong belief that the different faiths and religions we all practice here in the USU Pagan Alliance are connected. I believe that the gods and goddesses that we pay homage to are all truths and identities associated with the ultimate divinity of our universe. If you have questions about Pantheism, feel free to send them my way or check out a few of these locations:

There are definitely more, but these are ways that can get you started if you’d like to investigate more on Pantheist topics.
